Weeks 5 & 6 – Ethical Considirations, Exploring Ideas & Planning Tools

Week 5

The first task had us designing a prototype for a Potential XR app that might help with a therapeutic challenge and we had several frameworks to help aid the discussion however it seems this was group work and I was unable to attend the session at that time due to circumstances beyond my control and the page where we would submit the ethical outline does not exist however I would have talked about a condition that effects alot of people who use VR.

The condition I am talking about is soemthing even happened to me after using VR for around 8h to play a game I was very much enjoying and what happened is that My own hands after leaving VR did not look or feel like my own and it was a very strange sensation that is caused by overuse of VR…

…Though this is not the case for everyone it does effect quite a lot of people and is caused by Overuse of VR though it only mainly impacts new users of VR and is something you just have to get used to over a few weeks of using VR while your brain adjusts to the change in perspectives but ultimately it is a phycological thing eventually it goes away and you can enjoy VR in peace.

The second task had us looking at tools and outlining our design project and just by looking at the project ideas page I can see only one real option for my skillset and that would be a 3D 360 immersive experience and to that note an animation of some kind would work the best though I could also make it a VR experience and incorporate some AR elements as well if I really wanted to because at the end of the day people want to be able to look around and see every aspect of something rather than watch a flat screen.

I think the best project I could make would be towards drumming up hype for something else rather than the project being the main focus since these days the success of a project does not result from the overall end goal but rather the illusion of that goal through marketing and interest which is why a lot of things these days don’t do so well after lots of hype and interest is created from marketing and promotional material but the people that make the project still end up very successful. So I plan to use this project as a stepping stone and for it to be a marketing piece for something else.

Week 6

Week 6 was all about project planning and management to keep you on track with work and I think the best one for me personally would be the Kanban Approach which was described on one of the slides for that weeks PowerPoint and its a style I have always used but never know the name for until now, It allows me to do tasks out of order if necessary since they would be set up in a way that allows me to add Deadline dates or mark them as colors such as Orange for currently doing, red for Not done and green for completed.

I have been using Kanban Instinctively throughout the entirety of University so far and I will continue this method since its a good workflow for someone like me. I have been using Trello (Trello) every time I had to create a schedule for a project and It’s very handy and below you can see its use, each coloum can be broken into a single week and You can either tag it as a color or set a deadline date to do that Task though you could do a week 6 task in week 1 if you wanted and I love this methored
